3 HUGE tips for artist trying to make it in the music industry - ibrahim malko 0

3 SMALL RULES FOR ASPIRING MUSICIANS

There are literally thousands of things artist are doing wrong in the music industry. Due to the fact there are millions of artist trying to get on the music game is by far the most over-saturated genre on the market. If you are an aspiring artist, here is a few tips we have put together for your benefit

                    1. YOUR IMAGE & Product!

  1. Focus on your MUSIC first. You need your 10,000 hours in the studio, it has to be done... You must have some sorta talent, or at-least the "IT" factor.
  2. Give fans a reason to partake in your product. Help them, most people listen to artist cause they help them deal with their issues, if your music doesn't do that you will have it hard out here... (alternative: Make HITS)
  3. Do people want to be you?. Your image is one of the most important aspects of your music career... Look at CHIEF KEEF, most people might not like his music but believe me every young kid looks up to his image of being "SOSA" people don't really have to like your lyrics, they just have to like your image. (IMPORTANT FOR TRAP RAPPERS, Rappers like KENDRICK and COLE get away with this due to lyrical ability.

                  2. Marketing, Branding, And Crew!!!

  1. Promote your music both online and offline, once you stop promoting people forget your exist... I know an artist who last year were getting at least 10k plays on sound cloud per track, then he stopped posting music all of a sudden... Decided to release a track 6 months later AND you guessed it... "12 plays 1 like"... When I confronted him about it he replied "I needed an break from social media" thats all fine and dandy but if your trying to make it out here you can't just take a break from the most important tool on the universe.
  2. Hang out with like-minded people. Repeat after me... STOP HANGING OUT WITH PEOPLE WHO DON"T SHARE YOUR MUSIC OR SUPPORT YOUR CRAFT" You need an team of people around you all day everyday... So network with promoters, producers, booking agents, and maybe even an coach.
  3. See the future. Remember in 2005 in the rap game drug users were considered "LOSERS" well now the drug dealers are considered "LOSERS" and all the drug users are the ones rapping... THINGS CHANGE, people who see a sound trending take advantage of it... "but i want to be true to myself" well if you want to make it big you will have to take advantage of certain trends. When you make it you won't have to do that as much. Even J cole and Kendrick made it making songs like "bitch don't kill my vibe" K DOT or "workout" J COLE... Melodies, Hooks, Chorus, Banging Beats, etc... win all the time. At the same time they still stayed true to their sound.

                        3. Money And Goals!!!

  1. Learn how to monetize your craft The internet has made me an living, if your a producer or an artist there is no excuses. You can at least start making an 100 bucks here or there... just to start out.
  2. Set your self up. Most artist are so eager to make it overnight, but it takes 10 years just to become an overnight success- BIG SEAN... NO ONE has just picked up an mic recorded their first song and made it, I know some famous artist claim to... "o ya i made one song and took off" "i don't even write i just spit" they are lying.... it was an struggle, and it will be for you UNLESS DR DRE is your cousin and even then no one can make your music hot... put that time in in the booth.
  3. Have an mission. So what is your goal? make money, keep hip hop culture alive, tour the world, etc... think about what your doing this for... a lot of people can't answer that question.... Once you find out what you want from music your tasks become easier.
  4. FINALLY Stay away from "haters". This is not as important we all need criticism... but as yatchy, uzi vert, etc... have proved you really don't need people to like you to make it, cause there is always people who will like your music.

7 Ways To Promote Music By Ibrahim Malko

7 Ways To Promote Music By Ibrahim Malko 1

Ways to Promote Your Music FREE

Ok so you set up your SoundCloud or Youtube page, put out a body of work and now your telling all your friends on social media that you have the best track "EVER"

But, no one seems to be paying attention to your music... Is this because you aren't any good? or because the over saturation of the music game has made it that self promoting on FB, Twitter, etc... is no longer the way to make your self stand out!

Anybody with a laptop can just hop on the music train and put out something online. This is the gift and curse of the music game.

Its really easy to say you want to be a rapper but it is actually very difficult to be one...

Most artist look around in the industry and see all these "wack artist" making it big and you wonder to yourself what it takes to make it big??

Its a great day for you... here are some ways you can assure your self an higher percentage of success..

1. GET SOME REAL FRIENDS

Everyone who is your friend usually tells you your "dope" "Fire" etc.. etc.. but you will not get far if you keep the fakes around who aren't giving you honest criticism.

You need real feedback! Its totally fine to get feedback you don't want to hear...Please don't be that artist that thinks everyone is hating on him/her. IF everyone keeps saying the same thing about your music then its probably true...

Good music is the first step to getting heard. Don't overlook that.

2. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE LIKE EVERYONE

You noticed everyone who is pursuing a music career does the same thing? release a song and spam? well that won't get you a career and that doesn't differentiate you!

I one day dream of a world when people realize something they are doing isn't working... I see the same guys on my FB post the same links over the years and I'm thinking to my self where has that got them?

If I had a dollar for every time someone told me, "My name rings bells in the streets I got that heat" then I send me your links, I check that they only got 5 followers on soundcloud..

Most artist are too hard headed to give advice, the ones that listen make it far.

If every artist is simply posting on social media, and none of them are making any progress, what on earth makes someone think they'll have different success?

3. FOLLOW THE BLUEPRINT

Research! lLook at recent success stories and see what those artist did, depending on the time/era mimicking that can work...

Everyone is different but its ok to copy someones successful plan and apply to yours its a copy cat league..

Its more like think like successful artist, but you don't have to copy them...

4. WHY DON'T ARTISTS INVEST IN SMM?

Ever heard of SMM? Social media marketing and SEO

Probably not too much. SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is about optimizing your website to rank for certain keywords that people type in.

Once your site ranks higher on google, you get more traffic to your music, blog, album release, etc.

WHY WOULD SOMEONE PASS UP FREE WEBSITE TRAFFIC?

Because they aren't even smart enough to know what it is...

This may sound harsh, but don't be another stupid artist. "There are already enough people who don't take the time to educate themselves on advanced music marketing techniques, and it shows by their lack of income."

5. SEND YOUR MUSIC TO PROMOTERS

Send your links to promoters, if they like your music they may work with you and get you some shows possibly. Promoters do charge however the right promoter can do magic for your music..

6. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A WEEKLY BUDGET, YOU'RE WAYYYY BEHIND

This is the worst topic to bring up, no one has to admit they need to invest...

There is millions of other people doing what you are, if they are investing in professional quality videos, beats, mixing etc... they WILL WIN...

No matter how good you are, you have to market your self.... investing is the key!!! if you don't invest in your self NO ONE will...

7. PATIENCE

You don't need to be that 55 year old rapper who still thinks his time will come but, you need to make moves, and watch results, document and repeat that process...

This is a great organic growth strategy!

ARTIST GOT IT WRONG IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY - A Rant By Ibrahim Malko

ARTIST GOT IT WRONG IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY - A Rant By Ibrahim Malko 0

ARTIST TODAY

“Fuck the Illuminati is taking over, the music game is terrible, DJs are fucked up, and I fucking hate A&R's they always support fake lyrical artist and don't support real rap"

I know its hard reading this... However these are the words that come out of every starving artists mouth, most of them always blame everyone else but themselves. When it comes to business, starving artist don't know how to handle it that's why they all seem to blame everybody else for their failures. "OH DJS won't play my hit" "I'm to real and street for labels" "Labels only sign gay rappers" But wait if these rappers suck why are they making it big and why do their songs have millions of hits???? Its kinda like everyone listens to wack music and avoids the good music? I personally think music is subjective... If you think a certain song that has 20 million views sucks then I don't think your opinion holds wait its just the truth. I also think most of the guys out are trash but here are the biggest reasons these artist are on.

50% Relationships
40% Business
10% Talent!
...
Learn and play by the rules, stop complaining, I just told you how it goes now thats a start...

These artist who are on, have relationships with producers, DJS, engineers, bloggers, etc... you know how they get these relationship, they use the internet and are about BUSINESS>>>>> There is simply too much artist out here to just put on anyone but, lets not forget you have to have some talent. Not a lot of talent but something has to be there.. Your music has to be of good quality which is most important. You can't record your song on your Samsung and hate on artist who have great engineering... Sometimes your music doesn't have to be real good, it just has to sound real good... A song that sounds good is bound to be more successful then a song that is actually good but doesn't sound good. For example if I listen to your song I shouldn't hear your mom in the background cooking a steak because you decided to record your song in the kitchen that morning... Artist fail because they don't know what their goal is.. they don't know who their competition is... You are trying to be famous and have millions of people listen to your music, your competitors aren't the neighbor who also raps your competition is people who are already on such as wiz, drake, mac miller, etc... If you can't compete with artist that are on already you will never make it. This means quality, professionalism, and professional marketing firm.

WAYS TO MAKE MONEY FROM YOUR MUSIC: Malko Realiity

WAYS TO MAKE MONEY FROM YOUR MUSIC: Malko Realiity 0

TOP WAYS TO MAKE MONEY OFF YOUR MUSICAL TALENTS!!!!

1. CD & Merchandise Sales: Every time you perform at an event you must have your CDS, clothing, and even business cards with you. Give the business cards (with your social media info on them) out for free and sell the merch to people who enjoyed your performance.

2. Streaming: We all know each click/play on your song doesn't pay too much, however over an 3 month period royalties can add up to thousands...Get your music on all online stores especially spotify. (If you need to get on digital sites contact staff on this site)

3. YouTubeYouTube runs ads everytime an video is played, I personally know 100s of artist that do daily vlogs in the studio to earn about an extra 1,000 dollars per month... every little paycheck adds up and helps you get to your main goal.

4. Sponsorship: If you have an small fan base and or even an sound companies like... they will contact you or you can contact them. This is an long process, and companies won't just invest in anyone. A lot of artist ask "why aint no one investing in my talents" well its hard to invest in some random guy who has graphics and sound engineering that sounds and looks like it was done by an blind person. JUST THE TRUTH!!! invest in your self when people see you care about your brand/image they will feel more comfortable investing in you. Ask your self sometimes "if I was an label CEO would I even invest in me" Be honest.

5. Rent out your studio: If you have your own little recording place, network with other artist that need an place to record, rent it out to them when your not using it...

6. Features: If you have an decent following people will pay you to get on their track, make sure you have an EPK(if you need one check catalog section on this site). Get your connections up, make moves, people will pay you to be apart of what you got going if your headed in the right direction

7. Songwriting: There is multiple freelancing sites where you can post your "ghostwriting" services, people will hit you up asking you to write for them you can charge however much you want, if people think its reasonable, they will pay!!!
